Remembrance Day(Vow of Silence)

Tomorrow is Remembrance Day, and Nov.19th is the Vow of Silence.

You all know about Remembrance Day, so I will write about the Vow of Silence. It’s basically where you don’t talk for the whole day. At our school, the grade six and sevens are supposed to bring a canned food item or a loonie in to one of the teachers, to get a piece of masking tape with an X on it to put over their mouths. It is called “supporting” the people who can’t speak to their government, who can’t have their say in their home. And my school thinks “copying” them is supporting them. WHAT!!!????? That’s like humiliating people of what their condition is!!! And it is supposed to respect them. I don’t get it. Do you? Please comment!

Paulina’s Birthday Party

On Saturday, the 21st, it was my friend Paulina’s party. Her birthday was on the 19th, though. We went to a movie called The return of Nanny McPhee or something. After the movie, we went back to her house for food. And she opened the presents. The people I saw there were: Paulina and her sister(duh), Fertancy and her sister, and Paulina’s friend Danika and her sister. Fertancy and her sister went to swimming classes after the movie. We also got goodie bags. OF course, Gloria came along. And that’s what happened.

The reason why this post isn’t that good is because I’m trying something new.

It’s almost schooltime. I’m really excited about being in grade 5. A while ago, me, my mom and Gloria went to Staples to get supplies.

I remember that when I was finally in grade 3, I was so excited. And now, 2 years later, I’m excited again. And Gloria is going to be in grade 2. I remember when I was in grade 2, too. I hope to get better grades, too. I’ll show my goals for school next time, I hope!!!

P.S. My next topic for writing is. . . .Nature!

The BBQ with Gloria’s Friend

Last night, Emily, Gloria’s friend, and her parents came over and we had a BBQ dinner. Well, it took a while to get everything ready and everyone seated. When we started, almost everyone was starving! The patio table was turned into a buffet table, and the wooden bench was where the BBQ thingy was. A red table was in the middle of a circle of chairs, like a campsite. Here is a delicious list of what we ate:
First, we ate grilled vegetables on a strange skewer. Emily’s parents and my parents ate cooked/grilled GARLIC. Ewwwww! For me, anyway. Then Mom got the Chinese BBQ sauce covered chicken legs and wings, and we ate that, too. And beef kebabs. And lamb ribs. And my mom squeezed some watermelon and I got watermelon juice. And fruit salad. And corn, tiny potatoes, and tons of salads. Guess what? I managed to try everything, and it was all good! But not the garlic. That’s that!
P.S. I’ve got some really scary stories about Skytrains. I’ll share them next time!

My Journey to Downtown:D

Hey people! Did you like my newest story? I do! Also, I had to get a new passport. Well, actually, everyone but Gloria did. So, we went to Downtown Vancouver. Oh yeah, if you want a summary of the adventure, go to Gloria’s Blog. Here is my journey:
I took a Skytrain to Waterfront, then we “arrived” at Sinclair Centre, which I don’t like, cause it’s a big, empty space. And I found a tiny washroom to make myself feel better. . . no details to that! Anyway, after the washroom incident, we looked at a very colourful map and we found the passport place which is called “Passport Canada”. We did the things we needed to do (you know, show the passport information, pictures, etc. Oh yeah, and. . . ), then we got our “ticket” and we sat in the rows of chairs and. . . we waited for 45 minutes, I think. Good thing I brought books, and my mom had the DS. Then we went to get the passport stuff. And I said I wanted to go home, BUT. . . .that was only the beginning of a memorable journey.
We went near the Seawall! Okay, not a big accomplishment but still! And then we saw the 5 flag thingy, and a huge ship (to me, anyway). Then we go attracted to some art. Which I think is the Vancouver University of Art or something. We saw a statue made from sand (the sand statue was a picture of the sea underwater) and a “digital orca whale”! It was made out of black and white blocks. And some grey ones. Oh, and I saw the exterior Olympic torch lighting place. When you look closely, though, the “ice” it seems to be made out of, is actually glass with “cracks”. My mom told me that the torch thingy lights up at night. I knew that because at the bottom of each ice/glass thingy, there is a light. One of the torch thing that I saw was fuchsia-coloured. And on the other side of the place was a blue raindrop shaped thing. After, we got hungry, so we went to Waterfront Centre. We checked out some cool things and a hotel connected to it. Then we finally got to the food court. We could’ve chose anything in the food court, but we chose Tim Hortons. My mom chose a Ham Swiss sandwich combo, which included a doughnut and a drink. My mom chose brown, toasted bread and coffee with no sugar, just cream. The doughnut was for Gloria, who chose a chocolate one with coconut pieces. She also got apple juice. I then got a Canadian Maple, which is like a holeless doughnut with cream instead of a hole, and maple frosting on top. Delicious! Just in case we were hungry after, I bought 10 Timbits. Then. . . .
We went to the Skytrain station and we went home. On one line, Gloria and I got to sit at the beginning! But it was too loud, so I resumed my old seat. When we got to the ‘Brentwood Town Centre ‘station, we started walking home. Near the mall, it was hotter, so we went in the mall. Inside, my mom sat down with the I-pod Touch, so Gloria and I checked out the kittens. I even saw one fart!:P Then we finally headed home. when we got home, I found out I had a welt-like thing on my heel! I must’ve walked too much.
Then for dessert, I had the Timbits. MMmm!

My B-Day

My birthday was good. Coco and Andy came over and I showed them some stuff. After, Fertancy and her sister came and we ate. Then Emily. When Paulina and her sister Linda didn’t come, we called them and they came. We ate chips and cupcakes(I made them!!). We also watched a Barbie movie. Then they went home.
Coco and Andy stayed for dinner. Then we went to Costco for a while, then we went to Jerry’s apartment. We helped the grown ups for a while, then we went home. We then went to Coco’s house(she was still with us). Her parents weren’t home, so we stayed at her house. When her parents came back, my parents helped them. Then I finally went home. At about 12:00, we ate my birthday cheesecake(Just my family.). Awesome birthday, right? Thing was, I forgot it was my birthday!
Now that I’m 1o, I can enjoy summer. If you want to know about Canada Day, go to my sister’s blog. Have fun!

Summer has officially Started!!:D

School’s over, finally. Summer Vacation is tomorrow, which is also my B-day. I CAN’T WAIT CAUSE I’M GONNA BE 10, A 2 DIGIT NUMBER!! My friends are coming over. Not Kyle since he’s in Chicago. . . . .

I’ll probably post 2 days later, because I’ll be kinda busy tomorrow. Gloria’s friends are also coming over. Later, My mom, Gloria, and I are going shopping for things as goodie bags or something. Also I should try juggling. . .

For summer vacation, I’m not sure what I’m gonna do. My friends are doing a bake sale. They say if I buy anything, I get half off. Cool! I think I’ll do a group for kids under 8 to play. That’ll be fun.

Another 4-day Weekend

You know, I think that 3 day weekends are much more better than 4 days, cause 4 days are tooooooooooo long.

Okay, Friday was Pro d day, so no school. We had 4 visitors. Unfortunately, they had put actual stress on me. Fortunately, I know how a mom feels with 4 little people.

Sat.: Stayed at home. Boooring!

Sunday= Shopping. I think we went to church.

TODAY is MONDAY(Victoria Day). We had to sort, throw away, take out, rearrange, and see-if-they-fit-,fashion-show all of our clothes, even daddy!

Well, tomorrow there is school. I will hand in my report, and see my mark.(Hoooooray!)
