I DO NOT HAVE ONE DIRECTION INFECTION

Although this IS an One Direction song, but, y’know, whatever.
OKAY. I’m not sure if this is in Up All Night or not…but yup. Here’s the lyrics:

Shut the door, turn the light off
I wanna be with you
I wanna feel your love
I wanna lay beside you
I cannot hide this even though I try

Heart beats harder
Time escapes me
Trembling hands touch skin
It makes this harder
And the tears stream down my face

If we could only have this life for one more day
If we could only turn back time

[Chorus]
You know I’ll be
Your life, your voice your reason to be
My love, my heart
Is breathing for this
Moments in time
I’ll find the words to say
Before you leave me today

Close the door
Throw the key
Don’t wanna be reminded
Don’t wanna be seen
Don’t wanna be without you
My judgement is clouded
Like tonight’s sky

Hands are silent
Voice is numb
Try to scream out my lungs
It makes this hard girl
And the tears stream down my face

If we could only have this life for one more day
If we could only turn back time

[Chorus]
You know I’ll be
Your life, your voice your reason to be
My love, my heart
Is breathing for this
Moments in time
I’ll find the words to say
Before you leave me today

Flashes left in my mind
Going back to the time
Playing games in the street
Kicking balls with my feet
Dancing on with my toes
Standing close to the edge
There’s a pile of my clothes
At the end of your bed
As I feel myself fall
Make a joke of it all

[Chorus]
You know I’ll be
Your life, your voice your reason to be
My love, my heart
Is breathing for this
Moments in time
I’ll find the words to say
Before you leave me today

You know I’ll be
Your life, your voice your reason to be
My love, my heart
Is breathing for this
Moment in time
I’ll find the words to say
Before you leave me today

My thoughts: It’s supposed to mean a boy’s girlfriend id slowly dying, and when she does, he is so depressed/lovesick he jumps off a cliff.
Parts: I think Liam does the ‘girl is dying’ part, and Harry sings some of the chorus (the death). Niall sings the depressed part, Louis does the ‘thinking about suicide’ part, and at the end, Zayn sings the dying part. Y’know, standing close to the edge….
Rating: Me likin’ it. Depressing-ish…but it’s a purdy song.

Sorry this isn’t up to my usual quality, it’s just that I’m tired. NOW GO LISTEN TO THE SONG.

  1. The song’s actually Moments. When I listened to it I thought that it was about a girl dumping them… But… I guess that works too.
    IT’S SO DEPRESSING. 😥

  2. Overall, it’s probably the saddest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. He kills himself just to be with her. That is just… horrendous. And tragic. Makes me wanna cry.
But… the album cover Up All Night shows them all happy and stuff… soo…
    😥 [again]

    • However, do you notice that Artists make death seem… different? I know One Direction’s Moments was very tragic, but think about it this way: If a person you loved really died, would you kill yourself to join them? Or would you live on, like what they want you do?
Katy Perry’s The One That Got Away is like One Direction’s Moments, but not like it at the same time.
Exhibit A: Katy Perry’s song is about them meeting after high school, loving each other, but something goes wrong in between them and the guy dies. Katy Perry doesn’t suicide but lives the rest of her life under the heavy burden of guilt, wishing to go back to the day, wishing to change it.
HOWEVER, in One Direction’s song, the guy still loves the girl until the end. The girl, who dies, is unknown. Which is really strange because usually the artist describes their love (I know I’m getting sappy, but you know, just describing things).
The girl who dies is the guy’s one love. The guy’s official love. When she dies, the guy feels like he couldn’t take the agony anymore and suicides.
Exhibit B: For Katy Perry’s song, the death is partly her fault. But she doesn’t suicide because either she believes that the guy would want her to have a happy life or she feels that her life is worth more than love.
Therefore, One Direction’s song is much more… touching. The death is maybe his fault (it isn’t revealed, but the way he acts, it seems like all the deaths in the world don’t matter) but he wants to be with her forever. He is either selfless or selfish. Selfless for not caring about his life, only his love. Selfish for ONLY caring about one love, not caring for his family, his friends.
Exhibit C: The One That Got Away is less touching because she shows you memories of their loves. She describes the adventures, but not her true feelings for him.
Moments describes his feelings. He doesn’t replay his good memories, but his thoughts for the girl, the true emotions of his heart. He makes you heartbroken when you hear about him in pain, so you understand when he jumps off the cliff.
So basically what I’m trying to say here is I think songs like these are much more touching. Much more interesting to compare, to talk about. The cons? They’re extremely wistful and fill you with scorn. When I listened to Moments, I thought that it was actually quite ironic that they put it in the same album as What Makes You Beautiful. It makes it even MORE ironic that the album cover (Up All Night) is them so happy. That just ruins the effect.
But I like the change in style. Most of the songs are either completely pointless or love songs. These are both love songs, but… variant. You know what I mean?
If you read through this whole entire post-long comment, then you are probably truly enthralled of what I said.
And I’m sorry if this was boring. Just putting my thoughts out there. 😉

      • Blame Ed Sheeran.(: Yeah, I’m kidding. But you should seriously put that on your blog. And WHY would they kill themselves? Guys are guys and they do things us..ladies…might not do…right?

        • Eh… I’ll think about it.
And YES, guys are sorta weird (not offending anyone or anything :|). I definitely wouldn’t kill myself. Do I sound stuck-up? Because technically, I don’t think anyone would.
